Cecil B (Pete) Hollis

  General Notes:

Mr. Cecil B. “Pete” Hollis, Jr., 65, of Hamburg died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Hollis was a native of Portland and a resident of Hamburg and Fountain Hill most of his life. He graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1963 and Arkansas A & M in Monticello. He served as Fountain Hill High School Principal for one year and he worked for Georgia-Pacific for over 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg and a member of the Fountain Creek Hunting Camp.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon O’Neal Hollis in 2007; his granddaughter, Mia Rose Hollis in 2004; his father, Cecil B Hollis in 1980 and a brother, Lon E. Hollis in 2007.

He is survived by a son, Chuck Hollis and wife, Stephanie, of Hamburg; his mother, Synithia Mae Foster Hollis; a brother, Charles Hollis and wife, Cynthia; a sister, Ruth Riels and husband, Glynn, all of Fountain Hill; a grandson, Chance Hollis; a host of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Gwendolyn Davenport of Bastrop, Louisiana.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alan Riels, Andy Riels, A.J. Riels, Drew Riels, Tommy Hollis; Kyle O’Neal, Ronnie Adams and Will Cooper. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Paul Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church and members of Fountain Creek Deer Camp. Memorials may be made to the Mia Rose Hollis Memorial Garden, c/o Ashley County Medical Center, PO Box 400, Crossett, AR 71635.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Cecil married Sharon O'Neal, daughter of Living and Living. (Sharon O'Neal was born on 3 Mar 1948, died on 17 Sep 2007 in Hamburg, Ashley, AR and was buried on 19 Sep 2007 in Hamburg Cemetery, Hamburg, Ashley, AR.)
