Mrs. Bonnie Jackson Person, 73, of Hamburg died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her daughter's residence in Blytheville. Mrs. Person was a native of Fayetteville; a resident of Hamburg for most of her life except for the time spent with her husband who was in the United States Army. In January of this year, she moved to Blytheville with her daughter, Nancy. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1953 and she attended Memphis State University. She was a former school teacher, a former director of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the former owner of the Midway Plaza Motel in Hamburg and Persons Printing in Crossett. She served on the Ashley County Fair Board for 31 years and she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwin Person in 1984; her parents, Howard R. & Lola Mae Woods Jackson.
She is survived by two sons, Thom Person and wife, Joyce, of Arkadelphia, AR and David Person and wife, Samantha, of Crossett; three daughters, Susan Person of Troy, Ohio; Nancy Tacorda and husband, Chuck, of Blytheville and Amy Vickery and husband, Chris, of Columbus, MS; a brother, Richard H. Jackson of Waco, Texas; a sister, Ann Bachman of Dayton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren Shelly Hudspeth, Crystal Oden, Joey Nesseth, Rachel Graves, Amanda Herring, Brandi Watt, Elizabeth Kessler, Charles (Chip) Tacorda, Mary Person, Sarah Person, David Person, John Person, Eddie Person, Rebekah Person, Ben A. Person, Adam Person, Willy Person, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 11 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2008 in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ashley County Museum, c/o Leslie Foote, 503 E. Parker, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, PO Box 2222, Little Rock, AR 72203. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday.
Bonnie married Thomas Edwin Person, son of Living and Living, on 4 Jun 1955. (Thomas Edwin Person was born on 25 Jun 1929 in Memphis, Shelby, TN and died on 18 Aug 1984 in El Dorado, Union, AR.)
