General:

After the death of his father, Robert emigrated to America in 1798. He first settled at Eas t Greenwich, NY. In 1801 he stayed with Andrew Doig. In 1810 the family moved to Salem, Wash ington Co., NY (page 446) (30010-20010). In 1820 they lived in Salem (page 185) (221101-21110 ). In 1830 they moved to Cambridge, NY (page 125) (0002300100000-0120100100000). In 1840 h e lived in Cambridge (page 87) (0000000010000-0001200010000). In 1850 he was a retired farme r in Cambridge with his wife Hannah living with his son David's family.

Robert became a naturalized citizen on 28 Aug 1807 at Washington Co., NY; witness Samuel McDo ugal, of Greenwich, stated that Robert Doig, of Greenwich, was living in Greenwich then Argyl e prior to 14 Apr 1802.
