George H Frost

  General Notes:

George was born in Washington County, MO but was reared in Crawford Coun ty and went to Jefferson County in 1847. In 1849 he and his father set o ut for the California gold mines but Simeon died on the he way. George we nt on to California and it took him 6 months and 10 days to get the re by ox wagon. He spent about 2 years in the mines and obtained enough m oney to return to MO by water around the tip of South America and to b uy 80 acres of land in Jefferson County. He married Lucy Wilson, a sist er of Catherine who had married his brother Edmund. George was a Democra t, a Baptist, and a member of the Masonic fraternity.
