Marie Woods White Obituary - Ashley County Ledger 10/26/2005 Mrs. Marie Woods White, 93, of Fountain Hill died Monday, October 17, 20 05 at the, Monticello Healthcare Center. A native of Portland and a resident of Fountain Hill for over 85 years, she was a sales clerk for many years at the Boyd and Nichols Department Store in Fountain Hill and Harrison 's Department Store in Hamburg. She was a member of the Eastern Star, an a ctive member of the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church since 1924 and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Edith Thurman and husband Dennis of Lacey; two sons, Bill White and wife Gail of Texarkana and Charles White and w ife Marie of Hamburg; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling White, in October, 200 3; her parents, John & Willie Watkins Woods; four sisters, Terry Woods, Ethel Walker, Lola Mae Jackson and Merle Hester and three brothers, Wilson, John & Harold Woods. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 20, in the Fountain Hi ll First Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Elton and Cliff Bernard officiatin g. Pallbearers were Tim Stults, Steve, Stan & Jeff White, Bob Timmons a nd Ed Sturmer. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy White, John Marvin Woods, J ohn Robert Hester and Richard Jackson. Burial followed services at the Fl at Creek Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church or to the Flat Creek Cemetery Association, both at P.O. Box 265, Founta in Hill, AR 71642.
